The report of an alleged kidnapping or deprivation of liberty led municipal and state police to a house in the municipality of Escobedo, where they found the migrants, 30 men and 11 women.

According to police reports, the people were tired, hungry and dehydrated, so the agents also provided medical care, fluids and food.

They subsequently notified the National Institute of Migration (INM) to begin the relevant procedure and verify their migratory status.

“Persons of Salvadoran, Guatemalan and Honduran origin were placed in safe custody at the federal unit’s premises. The rescue took place after the report of people deprived of their liberty was received”, said the municipal police.

The local unit added that, because of the poor conditions in which migrants were living, it provided the necessary support. However, the authorities did not report any persons arrested in connection with the events.

The facts illustrate the phenomenon of irregular migration intercepted by Mexico, which has risen by nearly 650% so far this year, when the government found a record of almost 1,000,4 million migrants from January to May.
